I believe it’s important for patients to understand their medical practitioner’s philosophy of medicine. In other words, how does one’s medical practitioner like to practice medicine and what are the values and beliefs that he or she brings to a clinical encounter. Many don’t realize that these values and beliefs play a significant role in clinical reasoning and in the way clinicians treat their patients.
